Loving Every Minute of the Journey

Creating abstract metal sculptures

Since 2005 Stekelenburg  creates one of a kind, abstract metal sculptures. Following in the footsteps of his philosophical and artistic mentors, he creates art as an unconscious, unscripted, wordless act of emotional expression.  Sometimes his work is representational but most often not. Inspiring others to create their own metal sculptures

Stekelenburg opens his studio regularly for others to come and create their own metal sculptures. Participants pick and arrange from thousands of found metal objects to come up with their own creation. Check our Workshop page.

Jack Stekelenburg

It was 2005 and the time was right. Stekelenburg took a course in welding, initially so he could create garden art blue herons, but upon completing the course he lost all interest in garden art and began his journey into abstract metal sculptures. At first his art was simple, in fact so much so that his friends called some of his earlier work, "boat anchors", but that did not dissuade him. Over the next few years his work has evolved into a personal and unique style that is not seen anywhere else.

Recently Stekelenburg added a blacksmith forge and a plasma cutter to his arsenal of tools at his disposal allowing him to shape and manipulate metal in a much greater and unique manner.
